Okay, so I don't know you, but I just think you are FABULOUS!!! I'm just getting back into cake decorating, but I have so far to go to get to the excellence you have achieved in your cakes!!!!! I don't know if you're willing to share any advise or not. I totally understand if not, but I don't think we're in the same area, so we shouldn't be competition! (I'm in Springfield, MO)
First thing - do you have an air brush machine or how did you get the coloring on this cake and the trash truck cake? Also, do you have a zillion cake pans to be able to get all the variety of shapes? I have been making my own fondant, my own buttercream and have made way too many cakes to count trying to find the perfect cake recipe. How did you go about the venture of finding the perfect cake recipe?? Also, how did you determine how much to charge? I have 4 requests (I'm not advertising because I want to take it slow), but I'm just going to charge cost for these since I'm just starting out. Also, do you cook your cakes a few days before and then decorate the day of? How do you keep the cakes fresh? I really appreciate if you're willing to share any tips! Again, you don't know me, so if you'd rather not respond, I understand!
You are truly brilliant and a fabulous artist!! You are a complete inspriation to me!!
*****I have some information regarding my pricing, pick-ups, delivery, available time slots, and such at the bottom of my page. I am more than happy to answer any questions but I have tried to make it more convenient for my wonderful cake eaters to have easy access to some frequently asked questions.*****
I started baking in the first grade making cookies for my family. When I became the wife of the most wonderful man that God could have ever blessed me with, I found that he would not accept store bought cakes, cookies, or really even canned goods. So I had to up my skills! I started making breads, brownies, cookies, and all kinds of confections. Then one day I decided that I would take it a little farther and read a few books on how to decorate my sweets to make them a little more fun for my loved ones. As I started I felt like I found my "talent" from the Lord. I say that baking and decorating cakes is a spiritual experience. It is time to just spend with my Lord and Savior. It makes me tear up a little to think about it... and how great it makes me feel when I get to share it with others! I hope you all enjoy Katie's Cakes. Just know that God does it all, I am just a vessel and I can not do any of this with out Him who made me able. Thank you for your encouragement, prayers, and also for your orders ;)
