DON'T FORGET TO LOOK AT OLDER POST-- LOTS OF CAKE!!

Specializing in Specialty Shaped Cakes

This was my very first specialty shaped cake. I feel like my brain is like the game Tetris- it just clink clink clinks along until all of the pieces get stacked just perfectly for a high score of delicious sugary shaped goodness. If you ask me to make a cake for you I immediately start think of the shapes that are going to be required to build it, the structural aspects to keep it up and the amount for time it will take. I create the entire thing in my head before I ever start it. I get that gift from my dad. The Lord has passed that on to me from him and I am very thankful. Although I am not a sports fan, I do like to make snacks for any event. Fun shaped cakes like this one will put any sports nut over the top.
I was almost disowned by my family for this one. Us Okies should only bake for Okies. I do love Oklahoma, but be that as it may, I am not biased when it comes to making a grooms cake for someone.
This one was very difficult... I LOVE A CHALLENGE! I think that I was hopping around laughing in a deep cynical voice the entire time I was carving, icing, eatable spray painting, and hand luster dust painting this one. Don't be fooled by the thirty minute food network shows-- these kind of creations take hours and hours.

I was required to place this picture like this to honor all of my OU loving family. Hi mom and Nord!!!

Wedding Style

I have fed anywhere from thirty to over four-hundred. Simple and elegant seem to be the style but I am just itching to do something more edgy and bold with bright, breathtaking colors. Totally fondant covered or just with fondant accents gives such a smooth sleek look. I always use a scrumptious icing underneath it. Not everyone is a big fan of the taste of fondant-- I like it-- I think that it taste like marshmallows. I am sure that I eat my weight in marshmallows every year at least :) Anyway... I really enjoy working with fondant, it can be color matched to anything and molded to so many interesting shapes that normal icing just can not do.
Fresh flowers are so beautiful on a cake. They give it such a fresh lively look and isn't that what you want to express at your wedding- fresh new life with someone that you will cherish for all time. I love being married. For those of you that do not know me, I am completely smitten with my hubby. He is a wonderful strong christian man that treats me better than I could have ever imagined. I hardly ever open my own door, he lets me blab on and on about new styles and flavors, and he continually encourages me with every cake I make.
Fake flowers are great too. They give that same feel as fresh flowers. No worries of wilting and are really nice for long receptions.
I can also create sugar flowers. You can just munch right on them no problem. I really enjoy making them and I like to cover them in a pearl luster dust to give them more depth and a surreal style.
